Poorly designed lenses at a Ray-Ban price

The problem is entirely with the lenses. The frames seem to be of good quality, and the sunglasses are comfortable and look great on one's face. But Ray-Ban, at some point, was acquired by the Italian consumer group Luxotica, and Ray-Ban's historic emphasis on visual acuity through the lenses seems to have been sacrificed. Even when completely clean, it's hard to see through the lenses with certain angles between your face and the sun, as there appears to be no anti-reflective coating on the back of the lenses. You wind up with a large area that's just a tinted blur in your field of vision, which is the reflection from your cheeks onto the back of the lenses. They also don't cut glare well, and the transition from the darker tinted top of the lens to the lighter tinted bottom is jarring as the color representation is different from the top half to the bottom. I find that Serengeti lenses are far superior in all regards. Also, if you can accept a polarized lens, Revo lenses are also superior in all regards.

Nice older receiver!

I'm very happy with this receiver. Inexpensive because it's far from new, but with nice sound quality. To me, the objective of a good sound system is to faithfully reproduce what the artist(s) and sound engineers recorded. That means that different songs should sound "different" from each other not only in terms of the levels of bass, mid range and treble, but also in terms of the 3-D nature of the soundstage. This receiver does a nice job of doing that in my opinion. And - bonus round! - the built in phono pre-amp works nicely, also highlighting differences between different source material. Just remember that the design of this receiver long precedes current connectors. It has a few digital audio and visual connections and component RCA-type jacks, but mostly it's just lots of RCA connectors.
