Up to Criterion collection standards, but the movie... that's a different story.

This DVD, on a technical level, certainly stands up to Criterian Collection standards. There's a nice and informative booklet and the transfer is top notch. But that aside, the movie itself is a bit hard to swallow. Pasolini is indeed one of the greats of Italian cinema, but I found it hard to sit thru the movie and have only watched it once. And I'd like to think that I've seen some pretty intense movies. I'll probably sell my copy when I get a chance and pass along the nightmares to someone else!

Worth the Vangelis isolate score

This is the British blu-ray version with the isolated Vangelis score. And miracles of miracles, you can hear the tracks that never made the album release without annoying dialog and sound effects, though there are some minor volume fluctuations. Highly recommended.
