About

Hello, my passion is chasing & collecting classic vintage & modern cameras. I’ve been collecting cameras for over 40 years. I own a selection of modern & vintage equipment both analogue or digital. As my collection is growing out of control, I must reluctantly let some "usually at an affordable price" go to a new home. Be sure to check this space from time to time. Thanks for looking 😊

Minolta AF 50mm f/1.7 Lens on Sony's Alpha DSLR's
The Minolta AF 50mm f/1.7 prime standard lens from the first generation of AF lenses from the now regretted blue giant is making a comeback; it seems anyone who has a compatible DSLR wants one! Right now it’s selling like hot cakes on eBay and can fetch if in very good condition over £100 not bad for a 20 something years old lens. No wonder once you’ve realised it becomes a 75mm f/1.7 smaller Digital sensor of the Alpha 200, 300, 350 and 700 and will remain a 50mm on the soon to be released 24MP full frame Alpha 900. It’s the cheapest way of obtaining a fast portrait lens at the moment. It will be interesting to see what sort of results one can obtain with a lens designed over 20 years ago on a latest 24MP full frame sensor of the Alpha 900? I can’t wait for the first benchmarks! I’m using my f/1.7 on an Alpha 350 14.2MP and the results I got so far are surprisingly good, it makes justice to its 14.2MP sensor compared against the supplied Sony DT 18-70mm kit zoom lens which isn’t bad on a 10MP but shows its limits on my Alpha 350. If you own a few lenses from Minolta and you think they’re outdated, think Twice!

First Multi Mode Film SLR from Canon from the late 1970's
First Multi Mode Film SLR from Canon from the late 1970's. Solid and reliable workhorse. I buy classic Film SLR mostly from Canon as projects. I refurbish % service them to give them a new lease of life and keep film photography alive.
