It does exactly what it says on the tin - ' The paintings of Ken Howard' and loads of them !
Lots of great colour plates of the paintings accompanied by excellent text - on Ken Howard's approach and methods of working ,scores of great tips and amusing anecdotes on location .
One of my all time favourite artists 'The last of the Impressionists' as he called himself he is for me one of the finest tonal artist in a long line romantic landscape painters and this book reflects it all !
Excellent value for money ( this is the third and best of his books I've bought ) if you like Ken's work you will love this one .

0 of 2 found this helpful There is no doubt this is an excellent reference book but very old and was very musty when I opened it up - which is off putting for any book no matter how good. To me this seemed like a book from a jumble sale that hadn't been opened for years I've had to put it in the garden shed to air off and get rid of the dusty musty smell.

Small but very informative -
Good little book with all the important stuff regarding Constables life and work in place and a great introduction to his paintings. Will also be a useful pocket piece' when painting outdoors - to see how the master did it - but will need a bigger more expensive book to view better quality plates that are much closer to the originals. Overall though excellent value for money.
