Rousing "boys' own" adventure!

Although I've been enjoying vintage Hollywood films all my life, this is one I somehow missed. "Professional Soldier" is great fun, a completely fantastic yarn about a soldier of fortune (McLaglen) hired to kidnap a young monarch (Bartholomew) so that a revolution to overthrow a corrupt regime can take place without harming the king. There's plenty of action in the style of "boys' own" adventure tales of the period, while the chemistry between McLaglen and young Bartholomew is believable and thoroughly engaging. If you like these sorts of exciting Thirties films this one's for you!
