Good value set but some quirks

For the price, a great little set, especially as a second radio for the car. Small size, easy to use once programmed and quite reasonable performance (if sensitivity and image rejection not up to, say, Yaesu or Icom standards. Has reverse repeat, CTCSS, 1750Hz toneburst and all the features that you are likely to need (and many you won't). Scan is fast and works well, plenty of volume and good receiver audio despite the tiny speaker, reports on mic audio are good. ☺ Dislikes: 1: Abysmal, incomprehensible "Chinglish" instruction book. 2: Low level buzz on received audio, only when the mic is plugged in. This buzz is constant level - you don't notice it when the volume is turned up in the car, but can be annoying in a quiet room. 3: RF power levels, ostensibly 25 watts VHF, 20 watts UHF. On VHF, mine gives 27w high and 8w low (fine!) but on UHF only 15w high and a bizarre 12w low (pointless having a low setting!). 4: Rubber boot on mic plug rubs against volume knob. 5: Can't temporarily change power level when in memory mode (it defaults to the stored value) and a couple of trivial firmware bugs. If you can live with the above, and don't expect Japanese quality for a Chinese price tag, you'll be very happy with this. ♥

Useful little box

Excellent little box. Seems quite tough and well made. Includes dividers, and clips so you can stack more than one up and clip them together. Available in various sizes - mine was the smallest.
