Nokia 6230i - excellent "workhorse" mobile phone
8 of 9 found this helpful The 6230i isn't necessarily a current phone, in fact it's been of the shelf for a few years now in the stores. However, the Nokia 6230i still proves to be a popular work-horse product thats simply reliable, durable and to be honest a better product that some current models.
I upgraded (!) to a Nokia 6300, which while being a pretty good phone in it's class, doesn't match the efficiency of the 6230i - so in fact I've gone back to using a 6230i as it's a superior product. Good resolution screen, decent 1.3 camera, mp3 playback and tons of useful applications, plus the usual easy to navigate Nokia menu structure make this a phone to be reckoned with. Good battery power consumption (unlike to 6300) plus bluetooth connectivity that doesn't let you down either (again, unlike the 6300). Nokia made a mistake in opting for a sub-micro battery charging socket on their current range of phones, the 6230i being one of the last 'good' phones that still has the harder wearing larger connection.
Those interested, the Nokia CARK-126 full car-kit are still available for the 6230i and are selling very cheap indeed - ideal if you're on the road much. Plus good range of other accessories, batteries etc., remain available for this product.
If you have a 6230i and thinking of upgrading, don't sell your old phone until you're completely happy with the replacement, because quite simply I'd guess you'll be disappointed after a while and wish you're 6230i was back and running.
A great phone.

Nokia 5200 - top spec phone for a slider
6 of 8 found this helpful Having always had Nokia's, the time had come for another change of phone. Although I've also got a 6300, I felt that I needed a phone that I didn't mind if it got knocked, scratched etc as the 6300 is a classy piece of kit and prone to marking. The 5200 fitted the bill. I opted for the black, simply because the finish suits my needs, lifestyle etc.
This is my first slider phone and I'm impressed. Usual ease of use, doddle to use with good quality sound output and ease of connectivity. Nokia have finally adopted a standard USB cable for data instead of using loads of different model specific leads. Uploaded all my contacts and the phone works a dream. Good quality audio and a nice loud ring for a change. What I do like about Nokia is that when using the phone memory for contacts (instead of the sim), you can add multiple numbers for the same contact name, plus email addresses, notes etc. I'm pleased they kept this format for the 5200.
Camera isn't bad for a VGA and works well; lets face it, if you need a camera then buy one, but for a phone that cost me £50, the built in camera is as expected. Usual features such as bluetooth, calendar, email access, gallery etc.
The only thing to be aware of, is the screen resolution isn't as sharp as most standard monoblock phones, due mainly to the means of connection used for a sliding phone. Changing menu's etc., is reminiscent of earlier LCD portable TV's where the screen 'fades' from one image to another. It's not a fault of the phone, but a characteristic of being a slider. That aside though, it's a top phone and I'd well recommend the 5200.
PS: Considered the 5300, but the blurb on Nokia website stated it isn't email compatible (which I need). If it had of been, I'd have opted for the 5300 only because the camera's a better spec.

Kampa Deluxe poleset - a great upgrade
4 of 4 found this helpful These are an upgraded version of the standard pole upright pole set, that you can use (as an option) to help seal the back corners of a Kampa awning to your caravan. The standard poles are cumbersome and flex too much, but the deluxe set are lightweight, easy to fit and more rigid.
The spiked end secures the pole into the ground, while the cushioned flat section fits neatly into the integral 'pocket' in the top corner of the awning. The poles simply twist to lock at the required length and similar again to remove.
Better quality and better fit - whats not to like.
