Neilsen Diamond Course Fine & Extra Fine Set Sharpening Stone 150mm/ 6" Whetsone
31 Dec, 2016
Not perfect but capable
They come really rough and need to be run down before they work, at first it will seem like all three are about 50 grit but run them against each other under running water for a few minutes and they will start to level out and work decently, I nearly returned these they seemed that bad. They aren't perfectly flat so epoxy them down to something harder and they won't bend as much. I would say that the "extra fine" is probably about equal to 400 grit wet and dry paper, more than capable for softwoods, especially if you follow up with a strop and oxide, I really strongly recommend finding an old leather belt and buying a little bit of chromium oxide compound to go with this set.
