The Black Company - a mercenary force against the world

I first came across Glen Cook's Black Company novel in 1984. His style of writing is immediate, detailed, has an excellent mix of intrigue and direct action. Set in a strongly fantasy world he blends magic with sword play in a dynamic and enthralling manner. There are of course the main characters. These are strong in personality, full of personal quirks and prejudices. You will get hooked. There is a sense of brotherhood amongst the company. Pay attention to the supporting characters they add colour, introduce new plot lines and throw in some good humour. Shadow Games is a recent discovery for me. Glen Cook seems to have been out of print for ages. Now a new publisher has taken him on board and you can find his items easily on Ebay or Amazon. I was amazed at how many books he has done. A whole new collection to be had. I have now read 9 books of the company in a row. Delighted.
