1 of 1 found this helpful This dual 18v Makita String Trimmer is everything they say it is and more! The build quality is much more than I expected and I feel very happy with this purchase.
At first I ran it at full power all the time (being a manly man & all) and of course the batteries did not last as long as I had hoped. But then I wised up and used it the next time on low power for the entire yard (only needing high power for a very few stubborn weeds) and it got through with energy to spare.
Of course I already owned the Makita 18v System with many other tools so this was a no brainer having the batteries and the charger already.
I know it may seem pricey, but when you consider that most 2cycle gas trimmer only last a season or two these days and how loud and awkward they are compared to this space age quiet hummer of a beast of a battery powered machine it really is a good value. I can envision this string trimmer lasting me at least 5-8 years, just as all my other Makita brand tools have (most longer).

I am a paid pro event photographer, not an exotic artsy pixel peeping geek photographer so I appreciate value and quality in a lens. I use this lens on each and every shoot! The events I do range from Parades with hundreds of thousands of people to indoor cocktail parties and charity galas. The images I get from this lens are just plain usable every time.
Yes it has barrel distortion at the 17mm end but that is a one click fix in Lightroom. The 2.8 constant aperture and the contrasty results are what I appreciate. Daytime or night, this is my go to lens now.
