Quite the day
0 of 1 found this helpful All the parts arrived, well labelled and listed in the information leaflet. A series of pictures provided some guidance on putting it together.
Nowhere does it warn you how fiddly it is. For two intelligent and fairly savvy flat-pack builders, my husband and I nearly got divorced over this. We thought it take a couple of hours. It took five (not including the hour I walked the dog to avoid screaming). My husband (average height at 5’10”) discovered his hands were too big to fix the bolt into the channels (not a euphemism) and they dropped out easily. Many times. Many many times. They kept dropping out before the stupid nut would line up and turn. Two hands were not enough. At times four hands were not enough. We had to balance the corner struts and pray while we put the side panels in place.
Don’t make it inside unless you have extremely high ceilings. (It was wet and cold outside so we thought it was a good idea. It wasn’t). After we made this mistake we had to carry it outside to get the back panels fitted. They slide into place from the top. It was anxiety inducing to say the least, I held my breath and DH turned the air blue. Quite the combo, pretty sure the neighbours learnt new words. FYI Long arms also help with this (also avoid letting the dog get too close, it could all go horribly wrong at this point).
Finally, the door slid on (easy peasy, like way too easy) but has a wide gap, the roof sits just above where one would consider perfect, again it’s gappy, but it’s okay considering the price. Next time I’ll pay double in the hopes that it’s easier and more robust. Until then, it’ll do fine. Too tip: have wine or beer chilling for completion. Don’t attempt drinking until it’s done. Bon chance mon brave.
