Yes, it really works
I was skeptical, looked at dozens of versions of this same product. They probably all come from the same factory in China, but range in price from about US$30 to well over US$200. A few claim to have additional features, like repeated on/off switching, and I gather you do have to be careful about year/model. This one worked perfectly on my 2017 B-class, took probably five seconds, and full CarPlay.
