Huawei F617 Phone Quick Review
Good quality desk phone. Works on 2g and 3g with sim card. Screen is quite small compared to a normal best phone. Has EU plug but with UK adapter. Calls work fine in UK. However there is a known software problem on the phone regarding texting. The phone cannot accept or make texts because of this. Software upgrade needed by Huawei to fix this. Status on this not known.

Good KIt - But Cable Operated Pliers Weak
Good to have a combined set like this. I can't knock the quality at the price. The cable operated pliers is a brilliant idea and saved my bacon on removing/reinstalling 5 barely accessible coolant hoses at the back of a Merc B Class engine. Used only for this job I managed to bend the lower jaw (wire anchor) upwards when removing one of the stiffer hose clamps. I assume I squeezed the handle too hard for the material used. Now the clamp pincer device at end of wire does not close fully and the pliers won't fit back into the moulded box as the jaw is deformed. No issues with the other pliers. It did the job and the cable pliers saved the day for me. l will replace the cable operated pliers with a 'stronger' made unit for next time. Shame.

Good 3G/GSM desk phone. Recommended.
By far the best of three different 3G/GSM desk phones we have had. Colour screen is good. Menus are easy to understand and logical. Menus and keys on our model are in the english language. Favourite numbers being storeable in easy to access buttons M1 to M8 is a good function. It receives texts fine and can send through the alpha-numeric keypad if you need. We have it on a basic phone ring sound. Musical ring tones available but not really to our taste. Only slight issue for us is that the power jack plug is the same size as a headphone jack and the power jack are close-by. On first use I never paid attention and erroneously put the power plug into the headphone jack. The phone worked fine until it ran out of battery after about 12 hours as it was not getting power for re-charge. My fault there. We have not tried the USB connection to a computer for 3G internet as we will only ever use it as a phone.We are very satisfied with this phone.
