Definitely worth investigating.
Until a few weeks ago I'd never even heard of Draeseke. I'm in my mid-70s and have been a musician all my life. It seems that his music is beginning to enjoy some sort of a revival after many years of obscurity.

Music from the Romantic period definitely worth discovering.
These are interesting works by a composer now largely forgotten but highly regarded by Schumann and Brahms and which deserve to be heard. The performances and recording are good and this is another offering from the CPO label which has revived many other forgotten works from the Romantic period.
The two CDs with a total playing time of just over 86 minutes seems rather a short measure but it would unfair to say poor value as, to my knowledge, there are no other recordings of these works.

A late 19th century composer worth rediscovering.
Gernsheim was a friend of Brahms and is one of several composers of that period whose work has been overlooked for many years. The four symphonies are well-worth investigating by those who enjoy music of the Romantic period even though they won't displace Brahms from his rightful place in history.
