Acer TravelMate 7512AWSMi
This is my first laptop so I can only compare it with my Desktop PC...
Firstly, it looks impressive because of its 17" screen and accordingly accomodates a numeric pad as well as QWERTY keyboard.
The mouse and keyboard are extremely responsive and it didn't take me long to master having a built in mouse..
Windows Vista was installed in mine and and I'm still not convinced it is better than XP which runs on my desktop.
Sure, some of the features are impressive such as the desktop views and sidebars but I feel it runs slower than XP.
There is a built in web cam which is great BUT has a bug and if you have a lot of pictures in your pictures folder (which you inevitably will have) the cam stops working!! This bug has NOT been resolved by Acer but can be worked around by creating a separate pictures folder.
The downside to the big screen is the power consumption and you can expect the battery to run out after about 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on your current power plan. The good news is the laptop charges extremely quickly.
The sounds are quiet on the laptop but you can tweak the settings to get a reasonable output for music and DVD's.
The performance of the laptop is great and I have had no problems running games such as Battlefront II or DVD's.
Applications run smoothly too.
The dedicated graphics card has shared memory and as such your 1GB Ram memory will be more like 732MB.
The wireless LAN works a treat and I set up wireless networking in about 10 minutes.
I have yet to burn a DVD so can't comment on that.
I am really pleased with my laptop and for the price I paid I feel I got a lot for my money.
Would I recommend it? Yep, you betcha!

Custom build, very fast and great price
I had previously ordered a computer from CCL computing 2 years ago and was very pleased with the desktop Tower I ordered. Having shopped around this year again I return to CCL computing who provided the fastest specs at the most reasonable price. Both computer's working well and I would recommend and then

As a Halo and monopoly fan this game is a great fusion
The rules are the same as monopoly so we were able to play straight away without having to learn new ones. The board is very striking with the existing layout emblazoned with Halo graphics. The properties all have Halo connections from Ivanoff station(Old Kent Road in the original UK monopoly board) through The Ark( Trafalgar square) to the most expensive property, Earth(Mayfair). The community chest and chance have been replaced with "commendations" and AI" with each of the cards adapted to have a Halo twist to them. Ther playing pieces are each Halo themed, such as master chief's helmet. Even the money has been given a Halo twist (credits). A small criticism would be the houses and hotels. They've been renamed firebases and fortresses but they've not changed the shape of them. It would have been better if they had made them look more Halo-esque. However, a small point. The game looks and plays well and we have alll loved playing it (even though there have been a few arguments in game!). The empty box has been designed to accommodate the money and properties like a rack to enable the banker to pick through them easily. A fun game which gets everyone together. It's great to be able to leave phones and consoles behind for a few hours.
