Decorative beehive - lovely end product BUT..
Let me start by advising the finished result, having painted it, is exactly what I was looking for.
A couple of warnings:
1. This is a complex item to put together, and you will need good DIY skills.
2. The quality of the wood provided to me required me to paint it, buts that’s what I had intended anyway.
3. The thickness of the side panels provided in my pack meant 1 inch nails were too long, I would suggest 20mm nails and some wood glue.
4. I used 40mm nails, as opposed to 2inch nails, for fixing the end joints.
5. I suggest drilling 1mm pilot holes for each nail you use.
6. I used approximately 120 nails in total.
Was it worth it?
Yes I believe so, as to buy the real deal would have been at least £300, and as my wife commented it kept me out of trouble for a whole weekend. And most importantly she likes the finished item.
