Practical steamer
Had one of these for years and used it almost daily to steam vegetables, potatoes, and even fish now and then. Because it folds in on itself, it can be easily stored upside down inside the smallest bowl in my nest of bowls and when opened up it fits in most pans to perform as a steamer. The central handle makes extracting it from the pan quite simple, even when hot. Eventually, my old one began to show its age and I was delighted to find an exact replacement at such an economic price. There are others on sale, mainly from the Far East, with a slightly different design, but this is the same as my sturdy old faithful. Five stars.

A compelling and salutary read.
Written in 1935 in the run up to the Nazi takeover in Germany this book caricatures a similar political evolution in the USA - with added imaginative colour. It can't happen here? Oh yes it can! Uncanny echoes of the current situation in Washington under Mr Trump. We should be quite alarmed - but you will find the blind and brainwashed as well as the brave and honest in real life just as you do in this novel. Interestingly this has been performed as a play in relatively recent years. It should be performed again and given plenty of publicity.

What a relief!
Plagued by nuisance and scam calls and my Gigaset call blocking phone having limited space on its blocked list - and no way of revising it - the choice was a whole new phone (or two) or this nifty wee gadget that sits tidily by the phone with a nice big red button which is so satisfying to push when required. So far, so good. Haven't had it for long, but two blocked numbers already.
