2006 MX-5 16668 installation review
Installation was easy enough but be prepared to cut the OEM stainless exhaust pipe which can be a pain even with a chain cutter. I had to cut it twice as the 6 inch measurement in the instructions left the pipe too long. Once I made the first cut, I was able to mount the muffler and then mock up the resonator to get the remaining pipe cut to the right length. The sound is deep at low RPM and does not get buzzy or loud as you accelerate. Cruising at 3K in 4th, you almost don't know you have changed the exhaust and it perks up some under moderate acceleration and in down shifting, you get a few bobbles coming to a stop. Watching some other make installation videos, the plastic had to be cut or the outlets would have melted the body. This fit with no need to modify the rear plastic to prevent melting. Overall a good sound for the 2 seater and just what I was looking for.
