Its all about the picture quality - fantastic lens!
Why a secondhand Panasonic DMC-LX2, when there are more modern alternatives available? Will its all about the picture quality. The camera has possibly the best lens on a small camera - with f2.8 available throughout the focal length, the amount of light the lens lets in results in crisp, bright images. The highest quality images are in 16:9 format are great and really suitable for landscape/travel photography - I just take all photo in this format and crop them as necessary. The camera offers almost full manual control so is very flexible. The downsides are, I am unsure about the battery life, take 4 or 5 photos and the indicator goes down a bar - but if you switch camera off and on again it displays full. The onboard flash is limited and there is no flash shoe for connecting a flash gun. Overall I'm very pleased with this camera. For a second hand price of well under £100, providing you are not a person who wants the latest or flashiest gizmo, it is a bit of a bargain.

3rd Dell - They just get better and better
My pentium P4 laptop ran out of puff for picture and video editing, so needed a new one... Always been more than happy with DELL pcs, and XPS M1330 had the best overall specification, although expensive when compared to latitude... Key deciding factors for me was the M1330 screen, backlit LCD, small overall size and overall sexiness of the machine. Specification ordered - 2.0ghz duo core, 4 gb memory, 128 mb graphics card, 160 gb HD (7400 rpm), 9 cell battery and in black. The machine itself looks more sexy in the flesh than it does in the photos. 9 cell battery gives it a slightly bulbous rear and obviously adds to the weight.. The overall quality and feel is very good, dell have not scrimpted on the materials used, key board has a very nice touch, but not upto ibm/lenovo x series yet.. Screen is a relevation.. the quality of photos is excellent and I briefly ran a dvd on it and the picture was better than my top of the range sony tv... I would love to see this machine running a blue ray hi def movie!! Preformance is what you would expect from the specification... the 7400 HD makes quite a difference to the overall speed and the duo core processor is good at running multiple tasks... Disappointments: the speakers produce a very tinny sound, and an XP version of the M1330 is not available.. Summary: Rating says it all - an excellent machine, I'm please I paid the extra for the XPS over the latitude... its worth it

So near to being a great great camera
I'm a semi pro photographer who mainly works in the glamour industry... I wanted a camera to back up my 5d, which was also small enough to use as my point and shoot when I'm travelling.... OK backing up my professional camera.. the G9 is quite good... the lens is superb, very sharp and with little distortion at the extremes of its focal range... My reason for buying this camera was the RAW facility plus being able to run flashgun off it.. At time of writing I'm not tried using the G9 with a radio remote to set off my studio light.. but I have tried it with my 550ex flash.. The flash is not totally integrated... you have to go to the later caon flashes for that but with a bit of trial and error using the camera on manual I achieved stunning results.... RAW is excellent and the superfine JPEGs are superb too.... Menu structures are very comprehensive, but if you know your way around a camera then you should quickly become familiar with them... The only downsides are the lack of remote facility and the focal length of the lens could be wider... I'd love to see 24mm at the expense of the zoom capability........ As a point and shoot i dont think you can get a better camera for the money. The G9 is superb and the facilities availible are light years ahead of the sony I bought just 18 months ago..... But my opinion about the point and shoot capabilities are dependant on you having some knowledge on how to work a camera... To just use this camera in green auto mode is a waste... if this is what you want save yourself money and go for a cheaper camera... get away from green auto and whammo you have a camera capable of challenging the quality of lower end digital slrs.... So overall, as the title of this review says, the G9 is so near to being a great, great camera..... a future classic... Please Canon a 24mm focal length would make it a great great camera!!!
