  My Dyson V7 brush roller has an open end, so the screwdriver was not needed. Just used a Junior Hacksaw to cut channels for the old brushes to be removed and then it was easy to slide the new ones in. As the open end buts up to the motorhead body, there is no chance they can slide back out.
