Essential equipment for repairs

I was bought one of these as a gift and was astonished I hadn't thought of using one before. You can draw the outline of the part you are about to remove with the location of the screws and they stick to the mat. Superb time saver and reduces the risk of losing any tiny screws.

Cost effective DIY replacement

Easy replacement of a faulty cartridge which had been used for many years and was not adjusting temperature properly. The old cartridge was really hard to remove with a build up of limescale around the seals. Be aware that the furthest section does unscrew if turned anti-clockwise, so when removing the old one twist clockwise while pulling with mole grips to remove. Set the temp to full cold on the lever and twist the new cartridge clockwise, so it lines up. I cleaned the limescale deposits from the hole and used some plumbers grease on the seals before inserting the new one straight in without twisting. Works great and shower restored to working order.
