    Fast Small Desktop
was seeking a replacement for my old desktop and came across this refurbished computer. I looked at several computers and kept coming back to this one.I was looking to keep costs down and this computer seemed to fit the bill. For one it is a Dell. and in addition it is considered fast, has fair amount memory and came with a DVD/RW drive. The hard drive is probably considered small but for me it is adequate. It is only a dual core machine and I know many folks want multiple cores but it works for me. Windows 7 Pro came installed which is another reason I purchased it. I have already upgraded to windows 10 but the jury is still out on that -.haven't had enough time to get used to it. So far everything is working as it should and I am very satisfied with it.

A decent router for the price
First of all I bought the WNDR3400 router used on an Ebay auction for $25 and at first had issues installing it. Once I reset it to factory specs and used the pre-loaded Netgear SSID and network key it has worked well. I tried using my own SSID and Password but it was no go. I gave up and used the Netgear pre-loaded ones. I bought the product to replace a Netgear wireless 54G router (that worked well by the way) in order to upgrade my home network to "N" speed. I wanted the dual band as I thought it would be the best for streaming movies and such through my blu-ray player. I am not quite sure that the dual band was necessary as I don't live in a crowded area. I only use the 5 Ghz band with my blu-ray player and have noticed the connection invariably drops while watching a program or movie. I don't know if it's the router or my blu-ray player as resetting the player brings back the connection. I use the 2.4 Ghz band for my computers and my WII and connections have been rock solid. The speed on the 2.4 Ghz band is faster than a direct wired connection but not appreciably so. Being that this router was used there were no instructions with it so I had to go to the Netgear website to download everything I needed. I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable when it comes to setting up these kind of things but even so I thought it an accomplishment that it works.
