It's a soldering iron bit. It works.
It fits and it works.

Working fine, good value.
These encoders work fine for me, I'm using ESP32 development boards and the ESP32Encoder.h library, via the Arduino IDE. This is simpler than most of the other ways that people detect the rotation of the counter, because it relies on the built-in pulse counter of the ESP32.
There is an encoder library for the Arduinos, but I haven't tried it.
Or you program your own counter routine, which is easier than it sounds.
If I were to change anything, I'd prefer to have a thread and a nut to fit this to a panel, but epoxy resin works fine.

Worked straight out of the box.
I thought this wasn't working and went through the usual motions of trying to fault-find, then I remembered to adjust the contrast and there it was, it had been working all along!
I'm using the liquidcrystal_I2C library, can't remember where I found it and the address of my module is 0x3F
