It works.
I live in the countryside and cluster flies are a pain. After a couple of years of clearing the loft using foggers, I bought this and sprayed round their favourite spots (chimney breast and loft hatch). This Spring I went up to set off the annual fogger, but there was no point as there were no flies.

Quality on a budget
This is the second Mars Hydro 300W lamp I've bought. The first was a few pound dearer, so I did wonder if it was genuine, but all seems to be in order and the plants seem to really like it. I note from the Mars Hydro site that they no longer feature this model, so it may be old stock being sold of cheap.
It's slightly brighter than the old one, but that may simply be because it's new. Regardless, growth on this side appears slightly better than the side with the old lamp.
One curious thing is that the appliance plate rates the input as somewhere around 150w (I've not looked since installing it), but I've since seen reviews confirming this. Quite why they call it a 300w is a mystery to me, unless perhaps to indicate an equivalence to non-LED lighting. I'm quite pleased of course, as it doesn't rack up the electricity bill as much!
Build quality is excellent and it's reasonably quiet despite the cooling fans.
All in all, a good purchase - I'd buy another without hesitation if I needed additional lights.

Quality
I've made the mistake a couple of times of buying cheap generic LED bulbs. Some virtually fell apart in my hands, others failed after just a couple of months. I wanted a 'daylight' bulb for my study as I spend a lot of time working in there and in the winter months it's nice to have as much daylight as I can get. I also wanted a bayonet fitting so I didn't need to swap out the holder.
Crompton are a respected make and, so far, this bulb has lived up to their reputation. It's solid, without being too bulky and industrial, and the light is excellent. It's way brighter than the CFL that it replaced and gives better colour rendition, whilst using much less energy.
I've no reason to suspect it won't last for the full 20,000 hours claimed for it; if it does, it'll probably outlive me.
