You will love it, I promise!
1 of 1 found this helpful After a year of my B&N STwGL use experience I admit that this e-reader is still unbeatable in terms of usability, battery life and price. Amazon now offers a very good e-reader too, however they missed the train I believe for at least a year. Furthermore, Amazon's e-reader (one friend of mine has one, so I could compare readers face to face) has no hard buttons and its backlight cannot be turned off completely so it glows all the time spending your battery. Also, B&N refine their reader as well, as I have seen some improvements in the screen (correct me if I'm wrong) in the Nook I bought for my father about a month ago.
Hardware buttons are very useful and I personally prefer them to tap gestures. The battery lasts depending on the way you use the reader. I read it for at least an hour virtually every evening, always with GlowLight on, and this way the battery lives for around two weeks. The slim and light-weight design ensures comfortable use.
There were however minor problems with turning on after recharging. The reader just did not turn on. The solution was to let it charge for longer time from the wall socket and reboot (turn off and turn on) after disconnecting from the power source.
I see almost no disadvantages except limited number of formats the book can read from the box. But one should realize that this book gives its user much more than he pays for it.

Exactly as declared by the manufacturer
To date I've used this thermo five or six times for various cooking purposes - from cakes to steaks and can tell for sure it is worth its price. Readings show up and update very fast and the accuracy is high enough. Too early to come to any certain conclusion but as for now, this thermo has really shown no evident flaws. I do recommend it.
