I wish I could have known Ivor when I was a child
Ivor the Engine,would you believe that at the age of 77 I have acquired a dvd of all the colour episodes ever made? I will be spending part of Xmas 2010 with my G'grandchildren and I will hope to take them to an age of makebelive, of fantasy, which is devoid of the present day violence which seems to be the norm, an age which I never knew having lived through WW2 as child, I thank God that the likes of Oliver Postgate trod this earth to give us Ivor, Jones the Steam, Idris and all of those other wonderful figments of his imagination. Why did I buy? don't ask silly questions.

My Kenyan Safari's
Although I have not yet tested my camera to the full I feel that it can be the one I have been looking for. As my title suggests I have been to Kenya on Safari (trip in Kiswahili) before, 2009, 2010 and will be going again Jan 2011. After my first visit I realised my Dimage X9 was not "man enough" so I bought a Finepix S8100, whilst I got some brilliant shots, one of a Lioness who was so focussed on Zebra that I was able to get the shot of a life time, hanging by my toenails from the roof of the safari waggon and within 15ft of her, I still thought that I could do better hence the HS10, I must confess that I never, ever buy on the spur of the moment. As I indicated above I will be on Safari again Jan 2011, the Masai Mara this time, when I hope that I can prove that my choice was the correct one, time will tell. If anyone wishes to follow in my footsteps checkout First Choice/ Thompson brochures and go on safari and test your camera skills to the full whilst having a fabulous time (this is not a commercial just adelighted customer)

The Old Ones can be the Best
I am old enough to have seen Alistair Simms in films made during his heyday, his timing, his portrayal of the character and his facial expressions denote him as an actor at the top of his tree. As far as I am concerned Christmas isn't Christmas without Alistair Simms's "Ebenezer Scrooge", Bob Cratchitt's children are rather "plummy" voiced for the cockney kids role they play but this is a minor point.
No violence, no foul language, my ideal entertainment whilst sipping a glass of the Christmas Spirit.
