Like "Dolly, my life and other unfinished business"? No, I love it!
One of if not the best autobiographies I've read. Upfront (pun intended), honest, open and as it is, and was, the telling of a truly remarkable life story, warts and all. A rags to riches tale which we all know, don't we? Well, no we don't unless, and until, you've read this book.
At times humourous, tender, touching, poignant and even sad but always frank and sincere. I've always been a fan of Dolly, of her music (surely one of the greatest songwriters of all time) of her honesty and integrity, and of her determination to succeed yet not to forget her roots. This tell it like it is book is quite frank and often very basic in its language, calling a turd a turd, and you can almost hear Dolly speaking the text. And the better it is for that.
I'm stil reading it and have been in stitches, and almost tears, at times it's THAT good - and well written. For all the make up, dresses and wigs Dolly has never been anything other that what she is. She has never changed from the little mountain girl she was, and bless her for that.
if you think you know Dolly and haven't read this book, then you're wrong.
Dolly was, is, and always will be one thing: purely and simply Dolly Parton - no airs, no graces, no side.
If you like a good read then this book is for you, irrespective of whether or not you like Dolly. Once you've read it I think you might just like her after all even if you didn't before and, if you did before, then you'll like her all the better after.

An Excellent Sixties Compilation
Given that almost all compilation CDs will contain some tracks available on other compilations which one may already own. The greater the number of tracks on each compilation, the greater the chances of duplication. That I have, in my collection Bryan Hyland's “Sealed With A Kiss” on six different albums, including this one, says it all. Unless you want to search out and, if you can find them, download individual rarer tracks it's what you have to put up with. I'm happy to take the albums as is, especially when I can buy them, pre-owned, for a fraction of the original price – frequently for the cost of downloading just one track. A little work with your computer and you can have albums of only your favourite tracks, without one duplication.
This collection doesn't contain later re-recordings by the original artist which are usually second rate – and the originals are almost certainly available somewhere. Don't confuse different “takes” of a song made at the time by the artiste(s), that are becoming increasingly available, with later re-recordings. I would, in most cases, rather have an original mono recording than a later re-recorded stereo pastiche. Most of the originals are now available digitally remastered anyway which makes them even better and clearer than hitherto; the drum pedal squeak on Needles and Pins, unheard until the track was remastered, being a good example. As I said would happen, I already have quite a number of the tracks on these CDs, and there are also some I didn't and still don't really like. There are, however, some that I did want but didn't have until now, so it was worth buying - so I practice what I preach!
I have two pieces of advice to offer prospective purchasers of any compilation; if it's advertised with no track listing do some research – there's always a listing somewhere on the Net. Then read as many reviews as you can – that way you'll weed out CDs containing later re-recordings.
This collection is a good cross-section of original, excellent quality, 60s recordings. The CDs include some tracks which I had forgotten about until I saw the listing. It's great to re-acquaint myself with some really great ones - The Casuals' “Jesamine” and Honeybus's “I Can't Let Maggie Go” to name but two. Great songs from a great time, musically speaking. There's also Love Affair's, at the time, controversial track – Everlasting Love – a real sixties story.
As someone for whom the 60s was his decade (and who does remember most of it!) take it from me that, whatever your age, you won't go far wrong with this compilation. Listen and enjoy, after all that's what music – of whatever age - is for!
All in all, an excellent compilation.

Why didn't I buy one years ago?
1 of 1 found this helpful I have owned an Espio AF for the last 20 years plus and it has served me faultlessly, being with me throughout all my travels across Europe, to the USA and many visits to countries of the former USSR. It has only one weak spot - the idiot behind the camera. So it is with the Espio 200. Because I was so pleased with my AF, I had long considered buying a similar camera with a longer lens.
Although, like most, I went digital a few years ago I have continued to use my AF in preference to the digital, preferring the results. For the same reason I recently returned completely to analogue photography, using various SLRs. Then along came the chance of acquiring this Espio 200 via eBay. It was too good a chance to miss. Quite frankly, it is brilliant - one of my better ideas - and I use it and will continue so to do, along with my old AF, whenever the chance presents itself.
Simpler to use and far lighter than most SLRs, and with controls so similar to the AF and falling so readily to the fingertips, I have taken to it as a duck to water, and I love it. It is compact and very light, simple to use and fits well into the hand. Like the AF, it's reliability personified and with the added panorama setting it has just about everything I need. The results are startlingly good. I had wondered if it would be as good as the AF in that respect, but I had no need to worry: it's a Pentax.
When out and about I usually carry an SLR (sometimes a Pentax P30 or ME super, sometimes a Canon EOS or even an Olympus OM) but I always carry both Espios as well. They are functionally so simple, so reliable, so quick and easy to use that they are indispensable companions, even more so now the Espio 200 - solely because of its increased lens length over the AF.
Pleased with my 200? You bet. The only negative is why I didn't buy one long ago.
