I purchased the kit after much research. What I found in my research is that there are several videos out there of people building their own reflow ovens using this kit, and the process appears to be clean cut. There's also a web site that offers extremely detailed step-by-step instructions, including excellent photos of the process. So after reviewing all of this, I decided to go for it. I bought the exact oven from Amazon for about $20 with Prime (free) shipping. I highly recommend getting the same oven, so that the instructions you read will match exactly what you have. There is some additional work that you need to do. First, you'll need to drill some metal, so make sure you have a drill and a selection of drill bits. You'll need some pliers to crimp the electrical connectors. Also, the oven isn't exactly sealed, so you may also want to use silicone caulk (should be one that is can take on very high temperatures) to seal the cracks of the cage from the outside. And, when you're using the gold tape, don't over-use it, otherwise you'll run out of it, and the stuff is expensive. Before you start working on the project, watch the videos and read the photo instructions - you should not make any shortcuts, and don't skip around in the steps.

853D SMD DC Power 3in1 Hot Air Iron Gun Rework Soldering Station Welder 6 Gift
29 Jun, 2016
Great product for the price
You really cannot beat the price for this rework station. Out of the box, everything works great. I'm quite pleased. The heat gun and soldering iron takes awhile to heat up - about 30 seconds to one minute, depending on how hot you want it. The soldering iron holder is too light. You may want to add some weight to it, otherwise it is too easy to move every time you stick the iron into it. The DC power supply and volt meter do work. Only complaint are the probes - you need to unscrew the caps on the unit, and then connect the probes. It would have been better if probes had banana plugs, and you can insert them into the unit. A couple of tips: first, when you use the heat gun for the first few times, it'll start to smoke. This is normal, as it is burning off whatever coating it had during manufacturing. After you use it a few times, the smoke goes away. One more tip: do NOT connect this unit to a power strip or line conditioner, as this station uses a lot of power. When I turned on the heat gun, the unit tripped the circuit breaker on my line conditioner. I just connected it straight into the wall outlet.
