About
I have been a passionate photographer since the age of 13, when I used to go to the library (yes I am that old) borrow books, take notes, then try to replicate the image using my own camera. I started with a rather nasty Rank Aldiss 126 camera then moved to a Kodak Retinette 1b which I wished I had never sold - such a joy to use. Across the years I have used Hasselbalds (keeping pre-loaded films in six film backs and always wearing a shirt with a breast pocket to hold the dark slide - imagine that now!). I then used Nikons including FM2, F3, D2x, D2h, D3, D4, D5, D610, D750, D850, Z7ii, Z8 ..and way too many others. My family keep many of my items scattered around the country but I am gradually selling them off - so anything you see on Ebay from me will have been personally owned, then maintained within the family, and then fully tested again before I let them go (oh how I wish that I had a private pension so I didn't have to sell it). Happy hunting!

- a***_ (10)- Feedback left by buyer.More than a year agoVerified purchaseDidn’t receive the camera but that was because of a mishap the sellers side where it was accidentally dropped. The seller was honest and cancelled the sale. The seller came across as honest and principled and I would deal with them again.

Great long-zoom
After a year of pondering whether to buy this or the 200-400 I finally took the plunge last week.
Many reviews will talk about slower AF but on Saturday I rattled off over 300 shots at a half a football match and never had a problem with AF speed or lag - it is quick enough for most uses.
I appreciate many see this as a birding lens but my use is for local sports - I can’t wait for cricket to come back now I have this extra length.
At a fraction of the price of the 200-400 this gives extra length at the cost of a stop or so. I have found the images sharp and good enough for newspaper reproduction even wide open at all focal lengths given a reasonable subject distance.
The only downsides are:
It is huge
The zoom barrel turns a very long way taking a hand off and repositioning is necessary to get right round - it is also large diameter - too large for my girly hand.
The barrel extends worryingly far and may prove a physical risk - but even if I break three it’s cheaper than buying the 200-400
