Great charger option for 2 devices at once.
Nice unit, nicely presented and it's designed to be the most compact you can make a 3-pin square plug. Delivers the current claimed, looks pretty, even if the indicator led is a little dull in daylight, it's fine for a bedroom so probably a good compromise.
Recommended, and service was tops.

What a difference!
I hate shiny screens. With a passion. I hate that when the sun is behind me (for half my working day) I have to up the brightness to overcome the reflections on the screen. During the winter it's ceiling lights! Who thought it was a good idea to put a mirror on a computer? Mine is an ageing Acer 5220 and - as I can't get a laptop at any price that has a decent keyboard, I decided to make this computer the best it can be.
First two batteries on eBay. Suddenly, I'm not nailed down to a power outlet any more. Next, a new lid because these model computers ALL break their lids through stress fractures at the over-stiff hinges. I got a new alloy lid that claims it won't break on eBay - time will tell.
Next, this screen and what a joy. This was the only matt screen that I could find anywhere that was listed for the 5220. And whether it is 'matt', or 'matte' (which I doubt) is moot, but it is truly a transformation. The display resolution is the same as before, but looking at blacks and fine lines is now waaay more easy on the eye and far classier-looking when presenting. As it should have been from day one Mr. Acer.
Installing in the 5220, I hit 2 snags though. The leads to the inverter(?) were about 2 cm too short! It just wasn't going to fit as I received it. But I'm handy with a soldering iron and in under 15 minutes, I had grafted in about 4 cm of a suitable size of cable and re-insulated with heat shrink. If this is a problem for you to do, then check it out first... but I'm sure it won't pose you a problem - you're taking on changing the screen, right? Once the lead was extended, it matched the mounting points perfectly.
Which brings us to snag 2 - there were no matching lugs at the top and bottom of the screen which are secured with the bezel screws. I didn't see that as a big problem. They are not major anchor points so i feel that there will be no loss of strength without them.
I think it's worth noting just one thing about the suppliers I got it from - I didn't think it was possible to have something delivered so fast. Brilliant work.
So there you have it. How to be kind to your eyes, make your work look better, rejuvenate a worthy PC and improve your working life no end with just one change. Lose the shiny.

Simple fix for P2004, P2009, P2016 and P2017 fault codes.
The TDI engine will eventually throw this error. The reason is that the swirl flap actuators bear very heavily on the link arms and bearings causing excessive wear. That in turn causes over-rotation of the flaps.
For some unknown reason, VAG flag condition this with a MIL which will cause vehicle tests to fail. It does not warrant such a drastic flag, but there you are.The cost of replacing the bearings, which is what the dealers recommend, can be up to 2,000. Replacing the link arms does not always clear it. Having the fault light come on was looking expensive, even with DIY replacements.
Then I found these brackets. They simply provide end-stops to the rotation action. They support the links, taking the weight of the actuators off the bearings and restricting travel. Once the excessive travel is limited, the ECU sees that the movement is back within limits and the fault light goes out all by itself. No VAG Com or reset required.
And it stays out. Permanently fixed.
Fitting takes about 10 minutes and there is a good video guide provided. There was a QR code on the bag but it wouldn't scan for me. It wasn't needed. On Torx tool to open 2 screws each side, slip in the brackets and put back the screws again. Seeemples.
A common sense, affordable solution that should be installed on every TDI to avoid the condition arising in the first place.
