Thin steel
The saw was a light gauge steel, (thickness of blade) which could only stand up to light work.It did not have any expansion gapping in the blade(These are the cuts you see,some have 4 or more of them) they stop the heat caused by friction travelling through the blade toward the centre.When this happens you get a wobble in the blade as the blade as it heats up,esp when cutting hardwood.

I was able to use this stone on my horizontal sharpener,a great alternative!!
Hi, the stone is fine,the bore hole was about a 16th too small,but that was easily remedied.I have been looking for a stone like this for a while,its not really meant to be used for this type of planer thicknesser blade sharpening machine that I have got,but with a little bit of ingenuity it will be fine. I have to reorganise a method of having the water trickle container highered to maintain cooling of the blades as the stone is much thicker than the original stone.Thank you for supplying me with this item and sending it so swiftly.

lighter
the model is a lot lighter than the older model,so thats fine with me!!!
