MARVELOUS BREAK FROM USUSAL VAPID TV TOPICS. WE LEARNED SOMETHING NEW.
SAW THE LAST PART OF THIS ON PBS AND GOT THE DVD BECAUSE HAD TO SEE THE COMPLETE WORK. WHAT A DEDICATED GROUP WORKED ON THIS! I DON'T HAVE MANY DVD'S BUT THIS ONE IS A KEEPER. EXAMPLE: THESE GREAT BIRDS WITHSTAND 25G'S DURING THEIR DIVES AND KEEP COMPLETE CONTROL.

RECOMMEND
Author Ruth Maxwell wrote this for children, but I found it appealing myself as well. She is not a ho-hum writer. Maxwell must have done loads of research because we really were immersed into everyday life of those times. It was not trite and certainly not dull. My grand daughter soon recognized she was just like the young main character -the only difference was being born at a different time. Life then was busy and full, no less than today. I RECOMMEND this book for anyone.

One of the best REAL researchers I have had the privilege to read.
2 of 2 found this helpful Dr. Thomas Sowell does not write fiction. He covers new topics in depth in each new book. He discusses the human condition, differing cultures, and how / why they function like they do. Obfuscation is not his forte. I have read several of his proof-filled books and am never disappointed with the thoroughness of his research. They have at least 300+ pages of facts and relevant history. His source bibliographies are huge, taking up to 20% of space in each book. I sense he wants the reader to reach his own personal conclusions. He fills the pages with information and YOU decide. He uses verbal virtuosity not as a political or social spin machine, but giving background that is real. He has been called an eternal national treasure by people I respect. In summary, if Dr. Thomas Sowell has discussed it, I want to read what he has to say. I recommend ANYTHING he has written and that especially includes this book.
