Not the Jewel in Fairport's Crown - but still good!
I writing this as I'm listening to this for the first time. I rather lost track of Fairport Convention after "Full House", but decided to buy this (and a couple of other Fairport CDs that had also passed me by) after reading a review in the August "Mojo". And I'm really glad I bought this. It's never going to be a great album, but it's really tight and effective, both vocally and musically. I wish I had come across it earlier.

Rome: Sex and Blood (but no Rock'n'Roll)
I had originally ignored this series when it was first shown on TV, but was introduced to it by a friend, and I became hooked. What I like about it is the way it integrates the stories of the fictional characters with the historical ones, so, if you know anything about Roman history - and if you don't, you should! - you feel you are watching a story set in a world you know, but it is also a world that is very different from the Hollywood stereotype. Rome becomes a city that has the feel of a middle-Eastern country: somewhere reasonable near geographically but extraordinarily far away culturally and morally. Can't wait to watch Series 2!

No Pussyfooting
I originally bought this when it was first released on vinyl in 1973. It wasn't something that I felt I was missing when I started collecting CDs and dispensed with my LP collection, but I remembered it fondly enough when I saw it had been released on CD. In fact, I think I appreciate it far more now than when I first heard it. I used to use it when I first started teaching as a basis for mime and movement - and I found myself using it for a similar purpose again recently. Good ideas last.
