HITACHI CP-X505 LCD PROJECTOR USED 20 LAMP HOURS TESTED WORKING - REF 1325

An old but good projector you can buy cheap
When this projector came out, about 10 years ago, it was around $8.500, so you can expect it to be well built and to have a lot of calibration options. It is a conference room/auditorium projector with a 3.500 lumen output, yet it has such a good color that I've used it for an installation in an exhibition. It's very quiet on whisper mode (2800 lumen), it has auto iris to improve contrast, it has lots of settings to adjust resolution and image position, and besides having vertical and horizontal lens shift, it has vertical and horizontal keystone, which can be set automatically if you want to. It has all kinds of inputs up to component RGB, and a speaker for playing audio (I have not tested it). The one I bought has no image problems what so ever.
I should have given more thought to it before buying this.
Pros:
- solid construction
- firewire connection
- powered by the computer (no electrical plug necessary)
- 4 inputs
- many options to manage inputs: level faders, boost, limiter
- separate monitors and headphone outputs
Cons:
- sound gets distorted even though input fader warning doesn't go red
- no way to tell if signal is over the limit by looking at the physical interface
- doesn't have any knobs and the provided software isn't comfortable to use: digital knobs jump to wherever you click, and it's not possible to dial in values.
- headphones output are on the back, causing the cable to twist
- headphones output is 1/8 size, so the connection is never solid enough, causing the cable to slide off
- it's advertised as a small interface, but it's not smaller than the much better Firebox model.
