Sharpens not only serrated knives but flat bladed knives too.
I bought this thinking it might just be a simple 'Gadget'. But no, it is very hand part of my 'kitchen knife - sharpening kit'. I used it to sharpen the edge of my serrated Sabatier bread knife. I only mention the make of knife, because anyone who uses Sabatier will know the Sabatier knife is a knife well - made and the metal is hardened. Any way, I sharpened my bread knife and was totally blown away by the difference a few passes of the sharpening steel made to the cutting. So, instead of having to buy a new knife for around £28, I bought one of these steels and saved money and is can be used to sharpen 'flat bladed' knives too. I am glad I bought it.

If you want to mess up your singer sewing machine, then attach this piece of rubbish to it.
A very bad copy of a very good machine part. It rattled, the was loose fitting (and it needed to be tight). The turning handle was plastic, the originals have wood.. the overall quality of this part was so bad that I decided to send it back because I could not possible sell a Singer sewing machine with the piece of rubbish they sent me. I could not justify it.
