About

History of Advertising Trust (HAT) is an educational charity and the archive for the UK advertising industry. The Trust was founded in 1976 to preserve the heritage of the industry and make it freely available for study and research. Consequently, we are the largest archive of British advertising in the world, holding over 10 million items in the collections 1800-today.

The four core aims of the Trust are to promote agency legacy, celebrate brand heritage, engage with education and support dementia care. We make our collections freely available for study and research by academia and the public, via our archive facility in Norfolk, and run educational and social projects using our collections, such as our Ad-Memoire reminiscence resource for care homes and hospitals.
