Great idea! Not in it for the long haul 😒
1 of 1 found this helpful I love it! It memorizes my cats’ microchips, has curfew settings so I can program it to lock them in at night, and can even set it to lock only one way (ie, if one cat comes in at 7pm it won’t let him back out, but will let the other cat come in later). So great! But! After a year or so, it starts plowing through batteries, at one point I was changing them every other day. I finally got rechargeable batteries and only had to change those every 3-4 days 🙄. Eventually it just stopped workin at all, but would randomly lock one way or another, keeping the cats inside when I wanted them to be able to go out, or locking them out when they should be able to come in.
The worst part? I totally want to buy another one, because it’s such a good tool to keep my cats happy and safe while I’m at work all day.
Is it worth $126 for something I’ll only have for 1 year? Well, $10/mo isn’t that bad i guess.

The cat door that keeps curfews
This is the second SureFlap microchip pet door I’ve had. The first one was great for a year before it started gobbling batteries to the point I was changing them daily. I was loathe to spend another $130 on a thing that would last a year. However. I considered what that would be per month even if it died after a year, and at $11/month, it’s worth it to know that it will let my cats out in the morning once the sun comes up after I leave for work, and that it will lock them back in before dark if I’m not home yet. So I went for it for round 2.
Even better that now it comes with a 3 year warranty! Maybe they’ve improved things :)
