A good guide for where the world is going

The capitalist way of life has entered a major transition and we don't yet know how it will turn out. A pivot away from capitalism and towards a form of socialism is the likely outcome according to this book. The argument is compelling, logical, reasonable, and worth understanding.

Easily the best book about Tibet and modern China

I have traveled to China three times in the past five years and have read voraciously about the country and more recently Tibet over the past decade. Without question the most valuable and most direct book about modern China is Patrick French's Tibet, Tibet. Sure it's about Tibet, but it reveals more about the mind-state of China than any of the other 'China' books that have passed through my hands. Most other books, many quite excellent, have broader scope or greater detail, but this one shows what it really feels like to live there, to be there. No other book does this quite so deeply. French's amazing and disturbing book should be required reading for anyone who cares about China, or the world for that matter.
