The birth of landmark Television.
Quatermass and it's sequels were hugely influential on television and science fiction. Written by Nigel Kneale and produced by Rudolph Cartier these tv programmes were later adapted and remade by Hammer films and helped move Hammer towards horror movies. They also provided much of the narrative inspiration towards 1970s Doctor Who.
This collection contains all that exists of the three1950s teleplays. Sadly the whole of The Quatermass Experiment was not recorded on transmission except for the first two episodes. Qutermass II and Quatermass and the Pit are complete. While dated in production technique and image quality, the the scripts shine out, being genuinely imaginative and unsettling. For fans and students of early British television this is an essential view. The collection has excellent viewing notes by Andrew pixley and is as good a collection of of the material as you can source.
