Wasn't sure before I bought, but now a total Kindle convert
6 of 6 found this helpful I wanted to get a used Kindle on Ebay because I wasn't conviced that I would "take to" a different reading experience, and I didn't want to spend all kinds of money only to find that I missed a traditional book. Well, it did feel a little odd for about the first 10 minutes, but now I am hooked.
I figured out the way of holding it that works for me (cover folded back, holding with my left hand), and I realized some things. 1) Kindle is very light, much lighter than a typical book of it's size. 2) The e-ink is spectacular, absolutely crystal clear and sharp. I even found myself running my hands over the screen, because it looks so dimensional. It is super-easy to read in all kinds of light, including bright sun 3) The greatest thing: I can snuggle into the couch - get into the perfect position, all folded up, and I do not have to move or shift in order to turn the pages! It seems like a small thing, but it's the BEST! All I need to do is tap the page turn button with a single finger on the one hand that holds the book. It really is so nice. I even still have a free hand to hold/drink my tea as I read. Frankly, after only a month, I have now lost the ability to read a normal book. I recently found myself attempting to click the page turn button on an ordinary (now, sub-par) paperback.
Other characteristics - battery life is excellent, and browsing/shoping for new titles is a breeze. I am not altogether sure how the wireless works, but I simply turned it on, and I was able to connect, so that was simple, too.
In short, I love my Kindle, and I am sure it won't be the only one our household ever owns...we are now converts, and there will be no going back!
