Good recordings…
Brilliant collection of early Rolling Stones recordings at the BBC. Bought it for 1 track, but recommend and cheap as chips on eBay !

Crazy product, good sound but easily could have been so much better...doh!
What a strange audio system this is ! Very sceptical about buying a Philips product in general, cannot review this as a top rated product although I will give this a 3/5 average (as there is no 3.5 rating) due to the price paid and the more I use the system I don't know if I have a problematic 'open box' set although sold as New...
Positives - great sound IF you use the Max Sound button and the DBB on full, why Philips don't automatically have this on beats me (also agreed by the Philips expert when I registered the product at Philips HQ) ? USB and Mp3 links at the front of the unit (like most car stereos nowadays) are good. The CD tray can hold upto 3 discs. Radio is easy to use via the good FM and AM aerials.
Negatives - No Headphone socket but two microphone sockets ?? The remote (batteries included) should be sold in cheap stores as it is lucky it will last a year, although I hardly use it. Subwoofer (passive) waste of plastic and chipboard doesn't work without the Max Sound, only positive is good length of speaker cable, unlike the main two speakers, where you need to buy extra cable and extension connectors as the cables cannot be removed from the back of any of the speakers. The display is very bad (retro 1970's LCD display, nice? no!) although the main colour is Blue (which can be dimmed etc via the remote) which isn't a bad thing and a warning for the Vampires out there, it turns into a clear mirror when powered off - arrr !. The Aux connectors don't work with my turntable but will try a USB turntable, so we will see. The music types of Jazz, Rock, Techo and Optimal don't work when you use the MAX sound (which is a must) setting - pointless !, give me Treble, Mid and Bass controls any day, rather than four settings that do virtually nothing. Has a surround sound option but again does nothing for the sound output.
If you want to get on with your neighbours better, turn it up loud and throw the subwoofer into their correct re-cycling bin.
Overall a mish-mash of a mini/midi/audio shelf/kitchen side/bedroom floor etc... hi-fi, BUT just loud and good enough for purchase. Technically a 600 watt system but it could have been so much better with a decent subwoofer and a headphone socket !
A think a call to Philips will be in order if the USB turntable doesn't work..now where is my neighbours garden waste recycling bin ??
