Just a breeze after all those years
Some well remembered tunes but a plethora of just awful B sides to fill out this compilation that does not enhance the reputation of Joe Meek. The first disc uses up the best melodies and the rest shows an inevitable decline. Those of a certain age will feel the nostalgia of the early sixties innovation of the battery powered clavioline and will remember the failed attempt of talentless Heinz to gain solo success. The live tracks are just awful but some remind you of Meek's imaginative attempt to create a new sound but fail to sustain the success. For the collector there are some rare tracks but for the casual listener it is no surprise why they are rare. Why did I but it, well just a fond memory of the excitement my brothers and I felt at the release of Telstar, Robot and Globetrotter, but like most memories, it is deceptive. Too many tracks are painful fillers.

The Duke's Children by Anthony Trollope (Hardcover, 2017)

    Restoration of the original
This is the painstakingly restored edition as Trollope originally wrote it. A remarkable piece of scholarship makes this a landmark publication
