Great value even now being almost 3 years old.
2 of 2 found this helpful True innovation from the time and holds up well. Good screen gets bright enough and looks great. Much better battery life than previous models. Face ID is more than fast enough. Good looking phone and functions really well, more than enough for most people in terms of tech specifications. Totally recommend.

Good value & compact for a basic Apple experience
While this device is somewhat dated now physically, the software is still fully updated (as of 2020) just like the latest iPhones. If you want up-to-date software in a smaller more compact phone, the 1st gen SE may be for you. I'd advise having a refurbished model though, it's important to have a new battery installed for optimum battery life - the batteries in used phones can vary drastically.
