One of the greats

Beautiful interpretation of Bach's greatest work for the keyboard. Masaaki Suzuki is the equal of such masters as Gustav Leonhardt, Scott Ross or Pierre Hantaï. Don't be fooled by the fact that he is mainly a conductor: his harpsichord playing is every bit as great as his conducting. Note that the booklet is in Japanese only, except for a few basic informations.

Great music sounding bad.

There are good and bad things about this release. The good things are that you get four excellent and hard-to-find albums for a great price in a compact package. Bad thing is, the sound quality leaves much to be desired. The "remastering" was most probably done from vinyl LPs, as most of these public domain releases are, and it shows. The "engineer" obviously used heavy digital cleaning methods. The brass instruments and percussions sound tinny and the overall feel is unnatural and synthetic. Another downside is that this kind of product competes with the original labels and makes it less appealing for them to release proper versions of these albums from the original master tapes. I don't think I will buy again from this label. Sorry!

Audiophile ADCOM GTP-500 II preamplifier/tuner w/ remote

tuner stopped working

Very good preamp but the tuner section stopped working three days after receiving it. Keep in mind these are getting old.
