Its good for my DVD Military Collection...But !
The DVD's are in standard definition and because of the age of it the video series actually states at the begging of the disk that it will be little fuzzy and color will be off at times...and they were right...it is... it is still watchable. I also forgot of how long and drawn out the story lines were...thank goodness I can fast Forward LOL.

pretty good for video
I got it to have a quick 1080 p camera with me to do some time lapse shots for my YouTube videos. everything is great but battery doesn't last long enough for me to do time lapse LOL oh well..

Nice size, nice feel and a great camera
I bought this item because I was looking for a mid size Camcorder, The JVC Gr-DV500 feels great in your hand balanced nicely, Its a little older than the GR-DV800 and Gr-DV900. The only drawback I see with this model is the smaller LCD screen. I would reccomend this series from JVC, Also reccomend the 800 and 900 which have biggers screens. This series from JVC gives you a little more to hold on to, not too big but definetly not the tiny camcorders they are putting out now. I wish JVC would update this series of cameras.
