Nostalgia with a point.
This film recalls the days of polio epidemics and the infancy of the National Health Service. It also speaks to the camaraderie among boys of all classes. The acting is excellent.

An old favourite, as good to listen to as read
Owing to vision problems I am now dependent on audio books. I am a voracious reader and love to re-read my old favourites.
I have sought long and hard for this book, the second Barbara Vine. I love it. As always, I found things in the book that I have not seen before, or perhaps understood the complex emotions more than before.
I am so glad I found this book. I would recommend anything by Ruth Rendell and her eminence noire, Barbara Vine.
