whizzbang semi- steampunk inventive fun for bookish professors of all ages
I got this for my son to supplement my ex-library battered copy of the sequel I kept since childhood. My lad is 8 and is loving it. Parents, don't be afraid of the complicated sentences and old fashioned tech speak, these were written in the 1930s and 1960s when we trusted our kids would figure things out, and given the chance they still do. The characters make for great read-aloud voice acting too if you want to, and you should cos that's the best excuse to read them yourself and your kid will love you for it.
Madcap adventures with a strong whiff of steampunk.

Attractive but...
Got this delivered on Tuesday, put it to work Wednesday, Thursday morning it came apart. Now you can push it back together again, but it pops apart virtually every time you use it (the outer concertina part pops off the dowel on the inner part so it collapses). So it looks nice, but you have to fix it every time you use it. It's only a few seconds if you haven't much washing on it, but still not exactly fab.
