Good unit
Purchased the MEACO DD8L unit to dehumidify our recently renovated cellar. It's a substantial task; it's quite big and very damp. I ran it continuously for about a week, which eliminated condensation build up on the new joists & the PIR insulation. Excellent result, especially as the RH value in the cellar is around 80-90%.
The only issue we have with the device is the timer - you can't set it to switch on at a given time, for a given duration. If you programme it to stop, it won't restart again without manual intervention. For this application, where you want the device to run for weeks without attention (the unit would drain into the pre-existing sump pump), this is a drawback. This is a pity because in every other way, the unit is faultless.
My remedy was to not set a timer, but rely on the unit to stop when the drain bucket is full. This works OK, but it means I'm down the cellar every day to empty out and restart. You can't use a timer on the power feed either, because the unit requires a manual button-push to restart once the power is re-established.
None of this is a problem if the unit is in easy reach, living room, hall etc - but it's in the cellar and I don't like going down there!!

Very good used book purchase !
Very complete introduction to a complex subject. The well-used copy I purchased originated from a University library, it benefits from a CD copy attached to the inner cover - very handy!

Good piece of kit!
Good piece of kit, it appears to be very accurate and quite well made. I've seen the same device for sale elsewhere at much higher prices.
I guess you could wish the case had better water/dust resistance - there is no 'O' seal between it's two halves, so don't get it wet!
A 'data out' connection would be useful too, so you can store readings. It appears (I've only used it once - there may be more features I haven't found yet!) the only method of storage is to record it's function on a phone camera.
As a standalone device - on a tripod or handheld - it's very fit for purpose :-)
