Hornby R3399 EWS DCC Ready Freight Train Pack limited edition dcc ready

Strong and versatile engine

I bought one of these sets for myself, and after having it for a few months wanted to get one for my best friend as a gift He runs North American trains on his set which makes this a great loco. Being DCC and NEM compatible gives this design great flexibility. British trains have so much more history and variety that this set makes introducing them to non-UK modellers a real ease. It is a shame the wagons aren't fitted with NEM for conversion also to make them as universal as the engine. There are wagons in EWS livery that have universal coupling capability, but are from another brand. I run my unit with a hook/loop connection on one end and the knuckle type on the other so I can run any of my wagons/carriages regardless.

Universal, Detailed and Useful

This really is a well designed and detailed product. It is the only wagon or carriage I am currently aware of that can easily be fitted with either a knuckle or hook-n-loop coupler from the factory. I am in Canada so this makes running all my locos with any of my rolling stock easy and convenient. No fiddling or reconstructing carriages and wagons. Only NEM sockets could make this easier to use. Well worthwhile having.
