Washed Away : How the Great Flood of 1913, America's Most Widespread Natural...

    Almost forgotten enormous natural disaster
Interesting hour by hour review of the devastating great floods in the Midwest in 1913, highlighting several towns from Pennsylvania to the Mississippi River. Growing up in Indianapolis, I remember my grandmother talking a little about the flood and a big rock marking high water, but didn't realize how huge and widespread this event was.
Cooking from Quilt Country : Hearty Recipes from Amish and Mennonite Kitchens
    16 Oct, 2015
    Delicious recipes
This is the third time I've bought this book. This time it is a gift for my daughter. The second time, I replaced a copy I lost. The recipes are good "down home" Midwestern from scratch cooking and some more specific to the Mennonite and Amish communities. The recipes rely on standard rather than exotic ingredients for their great taste.
